Small craft marine surveyor and marine engineer, specialising predominantly but no exclusively in vessels under 24m. Pre-purchase and insurance condition surveys, Boat Safety Scheme inspections, insurance claim investigation/damage reports and machinery assessment. MCA Code of Practice for Small Commercial Vessels and Workboat codes through either Marine Engineers Certifying Authority Ltd. (MECAL) or Society of Consultant Marine Engineers & Ship Surveyors (SCMS). Specified refit and maintenance supervision. Survey reports and valuations accepted by most leading insurance/finance houses. All survey work covered by Professional Indemnity and Public liability insurance.

Gary Holmes has extensive experience in Marine surveying and Marine engineering.

Extensive knowledge dealing with shipyards, repair companies, and marine surveyors from various classification societies and institutions, including The Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA). A broad knowledge of the legal restraints placed upon owners and repair companies with regard to safety.

Recent experience has focused on supervision, maintenance and repair to the hull and machinery of small craft. Work undertaken has included investigations and damage reports into marine insurance claims on behalf of a number of International insurance companies. Extensive Marine engineering experience ranges across the spectrum and includes high speed diesel engines, electrical systems, pumping arrangements, treatment plants, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, all of which usually associated with craft under 24m.
